The Cook County Board of Commissioners is the governing board and legislative body of the county. It is comprised of 17 Commissioners, each serving a four-year term and is elected from single member districts. The Board of Commissioners is responsible for the management of the affairs of Cook County.

Cook County’s Third District is a vibrant and diverse district encompassing 14 of Chicago’s 50 wards as it hugs the shores of Lake Michigan from the River North neighborhood to South Shore, before extending west to the Ashburn/Wrightwood neighborhood. The Third District includes all the lakefront attractions and many of Chicago’s historical neighborhoods. The Third District offers diversity and opportunity for both Cook County and the City of Chicago.
