Today, I want to talk to you about something very important – the announced closing of Mercy Hospital & Medical Center. Mercy is a healthcare provider, a teaching hospital, and an employer to 1,700 of our neighbors. This closure could not come at a worse time. All of us on the South Side need healthcare options. We need and deserve a modern healthcare facility for inpatient and outpatient services. We cannot take this announced closing sitting down. Let’s join together and in one voice say – We want Mercy to continue providing services for which Mercy is known! Everyone deserves healthcare -that is a fundamental right! We need Mercy Hospital & Medical Center!
